Choosing format and size
When format and size options are available
The format, quality, and size options described below are only available when exporting in “Edited” mode. When using “Unmodified original” or “Original with metadata” modes, these settings are disabled in the main export panel since the original file format and size are preserved.
Exception: When using “Original with metadata” mode with RAW photos and choosing to export with metadata, you can click the gear icon next to the RAW export option to configure format, quality, and size settings specifically for the RAW conversion.
Format & quality
PowerPhotos supports exporting photos as JPG, HEIF, PNG, or TIFF. You can also choose “Match Original” to have PowerPhotos export each photo in its original format. For example, photos originally imported as JPG will be exported as JPG, HEIC photos as HEIC, etc. When using “Match Original”, you can specify a fallback format to use for photos that are in a format not supported by the other options (such as RAW files). The fallback can convert these photos to JPG, HEIF, PNG, or TIFF, or you can choose to export the unmodified original instead.
The JPG and HEIF formats use lossy compression, and allow you to select what quality of compression you’d like to use. Higher quality will make the photo look better, but result in a larger file size, whereas lower quality will take less disk space, but the photo may lose some of its finer details.
Size
By default each photo will be exported at its current pixel size, but you can also tell PowerPhotos to scale down the photos to a custom size. Enter a number of pixels to scale to, then choose to have PowerPhotos scale the photo to either have its height or width match that pixel count. Choosing the “Dimension” option will tell PowerPhotos to scale whichever side of each photo is largest to that pixel count. PowerPhotos will never scale an image to be larger than its current size. If a photo is already smaller than the size you specify, it will be exported without being resized.
