If you have been using iPhoto Library Manager to keep track of your iPhoto libraries, PowerPhotos can help you with your move to using the new Photos app.
Migrating your iPhoto libraries
In order to see your libraries in PowerPhotos, you will first need to migrate your libraries from iPhoto to Photos. PowerPhotos can assist with this process if you select “Migration iPhoto Libraries” from the File menu. The migration assistant will list all the iPhoto libraries on your machine and let you migrate any number of libraries to Photos in succession. You can read in more detail about how this works at Migrating iPhoto and Aperture libraries.
If you have already migrated some or all of your libraries before downloading PowerPhotos, you can also select “Add Library” from the File menu to add any of your existing Photos libraries to the PowerPhotos library list.
Merging, rebuilding, or copying photos between your libraries
Since PowerPhotos 1.0 does not have the copying and merging functions that are present in iPhoto Library Manager, if you want to do any merging or other consolidation in addition to migrating to Photos, you will want to perform that work using iPhoto Library Manager with your iPhoto libraries first, then migrate the resulting iPhoto libraries over to Photos afterwards. If you have already migrated a library to Photos, the iPhoto library it came from will still be present on your hard drive. you can go back and work with it using iPLM if you need to, then migrate that iPhoto library to Photos a second time.
Registration
PowerPhotos 1.0 is being made available for free for all existing iPhoto Library Manager customers, so you can just use your existing iPhoto Library Manager serial number in PowerPhotos to register your copy. Read more about registering PowerPhotos here.
