PowerPhotos 3.1.3 is out, with new copy/move menu items and automated library upgrading

I’m happy to announce the release of PowerPhotos 3.1.3, which includes a number of bug fixes, along with two new minor features I hope will help people out.

Copy To and Move To Menu Items

PowerPhotos has always let you copy or move photos and albums between libraries by dragging them from one library to another. While this works great once you know about it, it’s not always the most discoverable feature. Version 3.1.3 adds new “Copy To” and “Move To” items to the contextual menus when you control-click on albums or photos. These menu items provide the same functionality as drag and drop, but in a more visible and accessible way. Each menu item displays a submenu showing all the other libraries in your library list you can copy to, so you can easily select a library to copy/move your photos/album to. I’m hoping this will let more folks discover the copying and moving capabilities, as well as provide an options for those for whom drag and drop operations might be difficult.

Upgrading Multiple Libraries After macOS Updates

If you’ve ever upgraded macOS and found yourself with several photo libraries that all need to be upgraded to work with the new version of Photos, you know the tedious drill: open each library in Photos, wait for the upgrade to complete, quit Photos, open the next library, and repeat. PowerPhotos 3.1.3 aims to make this process much less painful.

When you select multiple libraries in PowerPhotos’ library list, it will now automatically detect which ones need upgrading and offer to upgrade them for you. PowerPhotos will provide a simple interface where you can choose which libraries to upgrade. Then with a single button click, PowerPhotos will open each library in Photos in turn, wait for the upgrade to complete, and then move on to the next one. You can sit back and let PowerPhotos handle the tedious work of opening and upgrading each library, saving you time after major macOS updates.

PowerPhotos 3.1.3 is a free update for all registered PowerPhotos 3 users. If you’re still using PowerPhotos 2, upgrades to version 3 are available for half price by entering your existing license key when you purchase at our online store. You can download the latest version for free from the PowerPhotos website to try it out.
