Merging options
iPhoto Library Manager provides a handful of options in the preferences window that let you control some aspects of merging libraries, beyond the general customization already provided in the Photo Copying section of the preferences. These options include:
- Create an album for each library merged: When enabled, for each library being merged, an additional album will be created in the merged library that contains all the photos that came from that library.
- Recreate contents of smart albums in merged library: it is not possible to recreate smart albums in an iPhoto library, but if this box is checked, then for each smart album in a library being merged, iPhoto Library Manager will create a regular album in the destination library containing the photos that were in that smart album at the time of the merge.
- Combine contents of albums with same name: normally, when merging libraries, a new album is created in the destination library to hold the contents of each album being imported from the source library. If this option is checked, and the destination library already has an album with the same name as one being copied from the source library, then the photos from that album will be added to the existing album rather than creating a new one.
